Imagine a portrait created out of compliments, a poem swirled into a tree, a favourite quotation hidden within a painting that only you know, or a design for an intriguing tattoo. The opportunities for Asemic writing are endless and can be produced in many ways from a stencil, to biros, to acrylic pens to piping. It can simply add style and form or elevate your paintings with secret meanings that only you know.
This technique is only limited by your imagination! Come and discover....

That Knave Raleigh - presented by Dyad Productions.
LIVE on Stage! Following their five-star show, I, Elizabeth, the award-winning Dyad Productions (A Christmas Carol, Lady Susan, A Room of One’s Own, Christmas Gothic, Austen’s Women, Female Gothic) return to the Elizabethan era. To the famous and fabulous Elizabethan explorer, sailor, dandy, and warrior, Sir Walter Raleigh. Elizabeth I’s favourite and James I’s knave.
This is a journey through the astonishing highs and lows of one of Britain’s most famous men from history. But there’s so much you don’t know...
Father, husband, writer, poet, adventurer, philosopher, soldier, tyrant, egotist, lover, traitor, alchemist, visionary, victim.
In a life spanning around 65 years, Sir Walter Raleigh achieved more than others might do in a hundred lifetimes. Over a decade in the tower and still he held power. The Huguenots, America, The Armada and execution. Is that the whole story? The final chapter of Raleigh’s life is perhaps the most daring, strange and utterly heart-breaking.
See the fall from grace taken directly from historical record, marvel at the magnetism of a man who seized every opportunity to create a legacy which spans the centuries and at every wrenching, exalting and personal moment, you will be witnesses.
Written and performed by Andrew Margerison (A Christmas Carol, Frantic Assembly’s Fatherland, Macbeth), and directed by Rebecca Vaughan (A Christmas Carol).
Tickets - £17.00. 90 mins tbc

The Memoir Writers Circle
Starts Thursday 8 May - 1:30pm
A 4 week course starting on Thursday 8 May from 1:30pm to 4:00pm.
Memoir is becoming one of the most popular genres right now as we reflect on our lives past and navigate our way forward in pretty challenging times. Memoir is very different to Autobiography (which tends to give an account of a whole life, like a literary Wikipedia) Memoir focuses more on slices of our lives. Memoir embraces our emotional journeys and experiences: relationships, place, themes of loss and wild joy. As Socrates said 'The unexamined life is not worth living.'
Join us for a fascinating journey into memoir writing. We will practise a variety of writing techniques, and discuss and share our writing in a safe space. This course is open to anyone and everyone. We all have a story to tell and its how we tell it that matters in writing.
£75.00
Please note there is a booking fee per transaction. £1.00 online or by telephone, 50p at the box office.

The Royal Ballet
BALLET TO BROADWAY: WHEELDON WORKS
[Mixed Programme; 1 Revival, 3 New Productions)
Sensuous contemporary ballet meets the energy of musical theatre in four distinctive short works.
Fool’s Paradise, The Two of Us, Us, An American in Paris: four works showing the remarkable choreographic range of The Royal Ballet's Artistic Associate, Christopher Wheeldon.
FOOL’S PARADISE
Luminescent and shimmering, Fool’s Paradise marked the first of Wheeldon’s many collaborations with composer Joby Talbot. It was created in 2007 for Wheeldon’s own company, Morphoses, and first performed in 2012 by The Royal Ballet.
THE TWO OF US
The wistful songs of Joni Mitchell set the scene for the UK premiere of The Two of Us, a duet of deep intimacy and yearning. It was created in 2020 for the Fall for Dance Festival in New York, and had American ballet dancers Sarah Mearns and David Hallberg in its original cast.
US (DUET)
Us is a tender duet danced by two men. It was created in 2017 for BalletBoyz and is set to Keaten Henson’s music.
AN AMERICAN IN PARIS (BALLET)
The Royal Ballet celebrates Wheeldon’s extraordinary success in musical theatre by performing the ballet scene from his Tony Award-winning musical An American in Paris. Set to Gershwin’s jazzy melodies, the musical is inspired by the 1951 film of the same name starring Gene Kelly and Leslie Caron. The musical went on to win four Tony awards. The full musical depicts a blossoming romance between the American G.I. Jerry Mulligan and a French ballerina, Lise Dassin. The ballet excerpt was
Wheeldon’s take on one of the most memorable scenes from the film – an extended sequence in which the two central characters dance through Paris.

Wind, Tide & Oar is a compelling exploration of engineless sailing, shot on analogue film over three years. The film delves into the experiences of those who travel solely by harnessing the natural elements alone, following a diverse array of traditional boats and uncovering the unique rhythms and motivations of engineless navigation.
Journeying through rivers, coastlines, and open seas, spanning the UK, the Netherlands, and France, Wind, Tide & Oar creates a contemplative space, addressing themes of ecology, heritage, traditional skills, and maritime history. Using a 1960s hand-wound camera, Wahl offers a poetic and intimate perspective on a millennia-old craft, upended by the invention of mechanised power.
Through the film’s reveries, sailing becomes a means to explore our interaction with and responsibility to the environment. It invites deep reflection on our relationship with nature, our understanding of and commitment to sustainability, and our care for the world around us
Directed by Huw Wahl

Critically acclaimed as one of the world’s greatest tribute shows, Simon & Garfunkel Through The Years continues to delight audiences across the globe. Featuring stunning vocal harmonies from world-class musicians, this spectacular concert transports you on a journey through the epic songs and history of the much-loved Simon and Garfunkel.
“One of the greatest tribute shows anywhere in the world”
Stuart Cameron, BBC and ITV Broadcaster
The show is a celebration of the unprecedented rise to fame of two boys from Queens, New York, who went on to become the most successful folk-rock duo of the 1960s, selling 38 million albums in the US alone, and receiving 10 Grammy Awards. In 1981, they performed to over half a million people in their hometown of New York, and in 1990 were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Collectively known as Bookends, Dan Haynes and Pete Richards have been fronting Simon & Garfunkel Through The Years since its creation in 2011. Much like their idols, they became friends at school and could not resist singing together from a tender age.
Alongside stops in London’s West End, the show has toured extensively around the UK, Europe, United States and Australia, attracting packed houses night after night. With consecutive sell-out runs since 2014 at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, they are championed as "one of the best vocal groups touring today", whose sounds are ‘’simply breathtaking’’.
Featuring all the major hits such as The Sound of Silence, Mrs Robinson, The Boxer and the iconic Bridge Over Troubled, don’t miss out on this unmissable show.

Hannay’s conscience (and dashing good looks) compels him to head north - far north to the Scottish wilderness where he dodges evil villains and corrupt officials with equal aplomb and huge slices of luck, counting a flock of sheep among his rescuers.
Will he succeed in protecting national security, find romance and live happily ever after, or be locked up forever and face a life of ignominy as a murderer?
To find out, we must climb…the 39 Steps!

'Carving Out' Abstract - Flowers with Negative Painting
Wednesday 23 July - 10:30am to 4:30pm
Beginners & Improvers
£67.00
This is a new technique for painting an abstract background, 'discovering' flowers within it then over painting a background. This allows us to paint 'negatively' and carve these flowers into more stylish shapes, adding a vase to complete the composition.
Negative painting allows 'a second go' at refining a shape and often creates a different sort of edge and look. This is a fun style to try and may entice you off the beaten track of your current style. Beware!
Please book as early as possible to help us plan for you. Please refer to the materials list here in good time to prepare.

The Odyssey, presented by Troubadour Stageworks:
A musical adaptation to be enjoyed by all the family.
Penelope has ruled Ithaca for 20 years. The evening before she must choose a new husband a stranger arrives at the palace. He says he has news of Odysseus.
If her husband is not dead then where has he been, why does he now return and what remains of their relationship?
It would take divine intervention for this reunion to go well … luckily, the Goddess Athena is patron to them both.
Returning after its successful 2023 tour, our adaptation is full of monsters and gods, interweaving music and modern dialogue with Alexander Pope's poetical translation of this Ancient Greek epic.
Classic yet accessible, this musical adaptation touches on many of the universal themes, in particular loss, identity, like-mindedness and homecoming. This is an introduction to this epic tale designed to be enjoyed by all the family and, we hope, spark a curiosity in the original!
Tickets: £18.00
Please note there is a booking fee per transaction. £1.00 online or by telephone, 50p at the box office.

This top tribute show is more than just a tribute - they are the completepackage! With their perfect combination of brilliant musicianship and tongue in cheek humour, they have had rave reviews throughout the UK.
Playing the country-rock songs of the 1980s supergroup ‘The Traveling Wilburys’, the band also steal some choice numbers from the back catalogue of each of its five iconic members; Roy Orbison, Tom Petty, George Harrison, Bob Dylan and Jeff Lynne.
Born out of the ashes of the popular B eatles tribute band Sgt Pepper’sOnly Dart Board Band, the fabulous UNRAVELLING WILBURYS are madeup of Sticky Willy, Walter, T humper, Blind Melon and Honky TonkWilbury, the “real” Wilbury brothers, who present their own unique slant on what it means to be a trib ute band. The show tells the story of the fateful night in Nashville’s Tootsies Bar in 1987, when their songs were(allegedly) stolen by Messrs Orbison & Co. and the hard road they had to tread to get ‘em back.
Songs such as ‘End of the Line’, ‘Handle with Care’, ‘The Devil’s Been
Busy’, and ‘Tweeter and The Monkey Man’ form the basis of the set,
which also features additional choice cuts including ‘Pretty Woman’
(Orbison), ‘Mr Blue Sky’ (Lynne), ‘American Girl’ (Petty), ‘While My GuitarGently Weeps’ (Harrison), and ‘A Hard Rain’s Gonna Fall’ (Dylan).
With music for everyone to enjoy, this is an evening not to be missed. A fabulous night out for lovers of great music.
(From Facebook)
“Captured the style and sounds perfectly and with their own added
sense of humour gave the audience an evening to remember”.
“Thank you all for a sensational performance last night, it was
musicianship of extraordinary talent from you all.”
Tickets: £19.00
Please note there is a booking fee per transaction. £1.00 online or by telephone, 50p at the box office.

THE GHOST OF A SMILE!
TWO DICKENS GHOST STORIES WITH A COMIC TWIST
Adapted and directed by Gavin Robertson and performed by Nicholas Collett
From the team who brought you ‘Done To Death By Jove!’ And look out for “Is That A Whip In Your Hand?” later this season!
Two of Charles Dickens’ creepy tales – with a comic twist. Tales with a tingle, but also a giggle! Two yarns to chill and charm! A traveller encounters a ghostly chair, and in a deserted Edinburgh carriageworks, a tipsy reveller is spirited away by...well...spirits!
Like “The Woman in Black” – but funnier, with fewer people!
Gavin and Nicholas have toured all over the UK as well as recent tours to USA and Australia.
“The ghost of a smile? More like an ear-to-ear grin.
Come for the writing. Stay for the performance. Get your frock coats on and go see this!”
‘GetYourCoatsOn’ (Edinburgh Fringe)
Tickets: £16.50

Peter Knight and John Spiers have made long lasting and significant contributions to the English folk scene via their work with Steeleye Span and Bellowhead, and more recently with the Gigspanner Big Band, and each has changed the perception of what traditional music can be, simultaneously introducing it to much wider, including global, audiences.
Originally brought together by FolkEast Festival for a one-off concert in 2016, their partnership has blossomed into “One of the most intriguing and exciting collaborations on today's folk scene” KLOF Magazine.
The pairing of violin and melodeon is not a new one, but in the hands of Knight and Spiers, improvisation and invention meet the listener at every turn. Together they have created a something to inspire future generations of musicians to engage with Britain’s folk dancing heritage, and the beautiful, mysterious tunes that can be found within that heritage.
"There can be no doubting that both performers are amongst the most, if not the most, talented of their peers. I was probably not the only person to leave the venue in awe at having witnessed something very special” Fatea Magazine
