Art History Course - From Impressionism to Pop Art

This six-week course is open to all, whether you already have some knowledge about Art History or the subject is completely new to you.

Discover how friends Van Gogh and Gaugin created new styles that were inspired by Japanese art and find out how Picasso and Braque invented Cubism!

Learn how the anti-war Dada group created chaos in their club, the Cabaret Voltaire in Switzerland during World War One, and find out why Salvador Dali was thrown out of the Surrealist group by Andre Breton.

Discover how modernist design was born in Germany at The Bauhaus between the wars, and how modernist designers and artists came to the UK bringing new styles of art and architecture including abstract art and Brutalism with them.

Learn how modern art made America the centre of the art world after World War Two, with the work of Jackson Pollock and the Abstract Expressionists. Find out how Pop Art developed in the US with Andy Warhol's silk screen prints, and in the UK when Peter Blake teamed up with The Beatles to create the famous Sgt Pepper album cover.
