Beginners Italian Evening Course. Term 2
Monday 23rd February 6pm to 7pm
6 Weeks.
£60.00
In Term 2, students build on their foundations and begin using Italian more flexibly in real-world situations. They are introduced to the present conditional, learning how to make polite requests with volere. Through role-plays such as booking hotels and restaurants, students practise sounding natural and courteous while also discovering alternative accommodation options in Italy beyond traditional hotels.
The term continues with practical language for everyday use. Students learn expressions of quantity (molto, poco, abbastanza) and expand their number knowledge up to 100. They also explore prepositions with articles (nel, della, nella), allowing them to ask and answer questions about location with confidence. Cultural insights, such as the versatile use of ecco!, help students sound more authentic in conversation.
Towards the end of the term, the focus shifts to personal connections and time. Students learn possessive adjectives while talking about family and relationships, then move on to the imperfect tense for habitual past actions and the future tense to express plans and intentions. By sharing past experiences and future goals, and finishing with a comprehensive review, students complete Term 2 feeling confident, capable, and ready to keep growing in Italian.

Meet your tutor Mariafrancesca Greca:
I am a multilingual educator currently teaching Italian at Exeter University, with a rich and varied background in teaching, administration, tourism, and customer service. I hold a Master’s degree in International Tourism Management from Leeds Beckett University and a degree in Political Sciences from the University of Naples “Orientale.”
My passion for languages and culture has shaped both my studies and my life. I studied Portuguese at university in Naples and later lived and worked in Portugal across different cities and contexts. Portugal remains close to me not only through these experiences but also because of my husband’s family, whom we visit often.
Over the years, I have volunteered in schools and community centres, preparing language clubs, assisting teachers, and teaching Italian and Portuguese. These opportunities have allowed me to share my love of languages while supporting learners of all ages.
I now live in Teignmouth with my husband, our daughter, and our dog Betty.
